Broadband
The transmission of a signal at a very high frequency, modulated by digital information.

Binary
A representation for numbers using only two digits, 0 and 1.

BIP
Abbreviation in Portuguese for the service transmitting a code or message by radio-waves, often referred to as Paging.

Band Width
The difference between the highest and the lowest limit of a frequency band. (The band width used for telephone services is between 300 Hz and 3400 Hz = 3100 Hz.)

Branch-line
A telephone cable line, with a length of less than 2,5 km, normally branched from another cable line.

Basic Access
The access by clients to RDIS, using a pair of copper and providing two channels (B1 e B2) for voice and data transmission and one D channel for data

Backbone
Main segment of the network to which the other segments are connected. It is normally a high-speed connection.
