Primary Distribution Network
Part of the Distribution Network located between the opto-electric elements and the amplifiers.
Public Telecommunications Network
The set of networks used to commercialize telecommunication services for public use. The public network does not include the users’ terminals, nor the networks located after the connection point to the subscriber’s terminal.
Private Telecommunication Network
Corporative, or individual, telecommunication networks installed to provide telecommunication services for their own use. They are not permitted to provide services to third parties even for non-commercial purposes.
Primary Access Network
Part of the network that supplies subscriber lines to a given geographical zone in a local area. It normally consists of a cable with a large number of pairs, installed in a duct. The end-points are given by the Distribution Frame at the telephone exchange and the secondary distribution cables or cross-connection points.
Public Utility Services
Include the services of calls made to public utility service, such as water, energy, gas and similar entities.
Parabolic Antenna
A type of antenna formed into a bowl-shaped dish, which serves to send and receive signals from a satellite.
Public Telecommunication Operator (PTO)
A legal entity, operating under a license or a contract, providing telecommunication services for public use.
Process of Settlement of Accounts
Compensation process between Telecommunication Operators (PTO), by which the debtor operator pays to the creditor operator the balance calculated under a given period of time, related to the interconnecting services provided.
Preventive Maintenance
Planned actions such as inspection, cleaning, adjustments and repair, aiming to reduce the probability of faults and degradation of network performance.
Password
A set of letters or digits used in computing, which allows the access to programmes and operative systems, equivalent to a physical key.
Pulse
Term used as synonym for a telephone charging unit.
Public Phone
Telephone that can be used with chip card, installed in a public area and intended to be used by the public.
Public Cabins
Telephone service intended to serve the public in general.
Private Subscription
A subscription made in the name of an individual.
